CLASSIC CHRIS-CRAFT RUNABOUT
In the 1800's, a "runabout" was a lightweight buggy made to be drawn by a single horse. The name carried over into the automotive era to refer to small open cars. In the 1920's, small, powerful powerboats appeared that, much like the buggy and car, were made for "running about".
